Web Developer Essentials

GOAL 1 Graduates of the program will demonstrate the knowledge and proficiency to create basic, dynamic websites utilizing modern best practices, tools, and techniques on both the client and server sides.

1. Create websites, including ecommerce sites, using modern best practices.
2. Create effective e-commerce websites.
3. Describe the basic functionality, protocols, and tools of the internet.
4. Demonstrate the ability to properly configure a web hosting environment.

GOAL 2 Graduates of the program will employ security best practices to protect websites against malicious intrusions and exploitation.

1. Test for and defend against malicious intrusions and exploitation using common attack vectors.
2. Employ basic secure practices when creating (and maintaining) websites.

GOAL 3 Graduates of the program will demonstrate the application of universal accessibility and usability principles when creating web sites.

1. Use modern tools to confirm the web pages they create are accessible and usable.
2. Use modern tools to validate web pages to demonstrate that they follow accepted standards.
