GOAL 1 Students will be clinically competent.

1. Students will demonstrate basic math computations.
2. Students will perform patient care skills.

GOAL 2 Students will demonstrate communication skills.

1. Students will demonstrate professional telephone techniques.
2. Students will respond appropriately to nonverbal communication.
3. Students will report relevant information to the physician.
4. Students will instruct a patient according to a patient’s special dietary needs.

GOAL 3 Students will exhibit administrative skills.

1. Students will obtain accurate patient billing information.
2. Students will demonstrate competence in Basic Practice Finances & 3rd Party Reimbursement.
3. Students will demonstrate competency in using the most current CPT & ICD coding systems.
4. Students will demonstrate competency in using the EMR.

GOAL 4 Students will model professionalism.

1. Students will describe the state’s legal scope of practice for a medical assistant.

GOAL 5 Students will demonstrate critical thinking skills.

1. Students will effectively evaluate the work environment to identify unsafe working conditions.

GOAL 6 The program will graduate entry-level medical assistants (Program Effectiveness Data).

1. Graduates will successfully write the CMA certification exam.
2. Of those pursuing employment, graduates will be employed within 12 months of program completion.
3. Students will complete the program within 12 months.
4. Graduates will be satisfied with their education.
5. Employers will be satisfied with graduates’ performance.
