Program Information/Mission

The Geography area of study is designed for students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university for completion of a baccalaureate degree. Students concentrate on building a strong foundation in mathematics, earth and physical sciences, and social & behavioral sciences. Geography is an integrating discipline that encourages the student to relate the various components of the physical and culturally created environments. This course sequence is sufficiently flexible to prepare students for a wide range of career choices. Specific possibilities include working with: (1) Geographic Information Systems, (2) businesses specializing in industrial and commercial location, (3) computer cartography, (4) remote sensing of environment, resources, and land use, and (5) agencies of the national, state, and local governments which require these skills.
